About the Artist

William Jeffrey Rodgers is a southern creative who was born in the foothills of North Carolina.  It’s true, his father named him after his favorite dog called Jeff.

His youth was spent in southwest Mississippi, where the humidity and sweltering summers brought on an appreciation of nature and the people around him.

Jeff’s mother recognized his extraordinary handwriting abilities at the young age of four and began to open his eyes to art and introduced him to a local artist named Edna Mayo, who saw his potential.  Mayo took him on as a student, teaching him every medium she could, including opera.

His pen and ink sketches dominated his youth until he began doing other creative work in restaurants throughout the south and landing in Savannah.  There, he became a chef, while expanding in his artistic abilities, developing characters, scenes, and experimenting with mediums.

Today, Jeff resides in Haywood County, NC where he continues to be inspired by the rivers, waterfalls, mountains, family and small-town characters.  He also winters in Savannah, GA where his “porch art” kick starts in the spring.
